Seaborg co-hosting international conference on advanced nuclear trends and development prospects
PECC2, VINATOM, Siemens Energy, and Seaborg hosted an international conference in Ho Chi Minh City on May 18 to introduce the concept of new and advanced floating nuclear power and the latest developments within Power-to-X.

In line with the energy transition trends to reach the global net-zero carbon emissions target by 2050, Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC2), a well-known Vietnamese engineering firm, was the co-host and organizer of an international conference in Ho Chi Minh City on May 18 on the subject “New Generation Nuclear Power – Technology Trends and Development Prospects”. The purpose of the conference was to introduce the concept of new and advanced floating nuclear power and latest developments within Power-to-X to potential investors, partners, customers, and experts in the energy field.
PECC2, Siemens Energy and Danish nuclear developer Seaborg Technologies were the hosts of the conference together with Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute, VINATOM.
“We are humble and proud to be co-hosting this important event, and for partnering up with the visionary and far-sighted people in PECC2, VINATOM, and Siemens Energy” says Peder Norborg, CTO of Seaborg.

Prior to the conference, PECC2 has been conducting a preliminary study together with Siemens Energy and Seaborg on the feasibility of deploying CMSR (Compact Molten Salt Reactor) Power Barges for electricity generation and in combination with hydrogen production based on Siemens Energy’s PEM electrolyzer. The study further explored opportunities for conversion of hydrogen to ammonia, using Topsoe’s proven ammonia technology.
At the international conference, the cooperation partners welcomed a long list of esteemed guests to enter the dialogue. These guests were from the Vietnamese Authorities, the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnamese State Utility EVN and its subsidiaries, top Vietnamese universities, and finally, a selective group of national and international private companies from the energy sector hereunder Seaborg’s partner Samsung Heavy Industries.
Important topics were discussed at the conference including:
COP26 and Vietnam’s Green Energy Development Prospects.
Global SMR (small modular reactor) and advanced nuclear power development.
Power-to-X development opportunities.
